Rain chances will pick up through the morning hours.  The steadiest and heaviest rain will push through between 10am and 2pm.

HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF)- Put on your walking shoes and push away from your desk at work. Wednesday is National Walk at Lunch Day.

It was created to improve personal health and decrease costs of healthcare for employers and employees.

Participation is fun and easy.

Bring or wear comfortable shoes and take a walk at lunch. Rain or shine, find a place to get moving.

Plans for Scottsboro no-kill animal shelter

Source: Scottsboro Animal Control

SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF)-

The City of Scottsboro is trying to become the first city-owned no-kill animal shelter in the state.

Last week, dozens of puppies were brought to the Scottsboro Animal Shelter. Like many shelters, if the animals cannot be adopted quickly they face being put down.

So far, only six puppies have been adopted.

But the City of Scottsboro is looking at making their shelter a no kill shelter and focusing on efforts to get them adopted.

Scottsboro Mayor Melton Potter said he plans to ask the council to hire a full time office manager and the county to provide a part time employee so they could work after hours and weekends to actively get the animals adopted.
