SCOTTSBORO, AL (WAFF)- A Jackson County Judge denied a request for a new trial filed by a man serving 35 years for child abuse.
Sherman McBryar claimed he received ineffective council and his sentence was illegally imposed.
McBryar pleaded guilty to child abuse charges in 2011 at the Jackson County Courthouse in Scottsboro.
McBryar strapped his 2-year-old in a car seat and left her with three goats in a bathroom where the temperature registered 90 degrees.
He slammed his 1-year-old's head against a wall and put a wire around her wrist to keep her from sucking her thumb.
